Research Profile:
The Translational Immunology group’s broad area of research interest is the regulation of T cell responses in human diseases, including viral infection and autoimmune and inflammatory disease. The team have extensive experience in the detailed analysis of human T cell phenotype and function using flow cytometry.
COVID-19 Project: Analysis of SarsCoV2-specific T cell responses:
The project will establish a robust antigen-specific assay to examine SarsCoV2 T cell responses in acute/convalescent COVID patients. Detailed analysis of antigen specific T cells will be facilitated by the establishment of large multiparameter antibody panels to identify their phenotype and function. The antigen-specific assay can then be utilised to examine SarsCoV2 T cell responses in various clinical cohorts including acute, convalescent, asymptomatic and vaccinated individuals. Data will be correlated with antibody titres and clinical information in order to provide greater understanding of the role of T cells in infection and vaccine responses.
