Roisin Gowen

Roisin completed her undergraduate degree in May 2022, now holding a B.A. in Environmental Science from Trinity College Dublin. For her undergraduate thesis, under the supervision of Prof. Jane Stout, she conducted a "Biodiversity and Social Assessment of Plants, Pollinators, and Park Management Strategies in urban parks in the Dun-Laoghaire Rathdown County Council Area". Her research explored the relationships between urban park management and biodiversity, and how this can also impact the connections and relationships between humans and the natural world. She commenced her PhD, supervised by Prof. Sarah McCormack and Prof. Jane Stout, in September 2022. Roisin will be working as a member of the multidisciplinary team of the E3 Kinsella FOREST project, focused on reimaging relations with nature. Her project will overlap the Natural Science and Environmental Engineering departments, focusing on exploring the optimization of a blended approach between nature-based and technology solutions. She plans to explore the impacts of various land uses across Ireland and how these various land uses can be used to provide collaborative, integrated solutions to climate change in Ireland."
