About our research interests
We are interested in the diversity of macrophage function, in health and disease. In particular, we study the innate immune pathways which lead to macrophage activation during infection, with an emphasis on the intracellular pathogen Mycobacterium tuberculosis, which has specifically evolved to modulate macrophage function.
We place particular emphasis in to how these pathways of activation can be regulated by multiple levels of control leading to diversity in activation state. In particular, we study post-transcriptional mechanisms of control of macrophage activation including regulation by miRNAs, metabolic reprogramming and inflammasome activation.
