Macrophage Homeostasis
Dr Frederick J Sheedy
Associate Professor
I recently established my independent research group within the School of Biochemistry & Immunology at Trinity College, Dublin (TCD), Ireland, examining macrophage function in health and disease. This builds upon my established expertise in innate immunity, lipid metabolism and molecular regulation by miRNA.
We are interested in the diversity of macrophage function, in health and disease. In particular, we study the innate immune pathways which lead to macrophage activation during infection, with an emphasis on the intracellular pathogen Mycobacterium tuberculosis, which has specifically evolved to modulate macrophage function.
