AMP (Anti-Microbial Peptides)
The evolution of genes encoding anti-microbial peptides varies greatly between humans, ruminants (such as cattle) and poultry (such as chickens). The CIG - in collaboration with Professor Dan Bradley of the Genetics Department in TCD and Dr Andrew Lloyd of the Carlow Institute of Technology - has discovered clusters of novel anti-microbial peptides and is currently exploring their biological functions.
