- Our cross-Faculty module Introduction to Contemporary Asia provides an introduction to Japanese Studies to undergraduate students.
- Postgraduate supervision in Japanese Studies is available in targeted areas in the Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences, please contact us by email for further information.
- Modules in the History of Japanese Art and Architecture are offered by the School of Histories and Humanities.
From 2012/13 - 2015/16, TCAS has been supported by the Japan Foundation through its Grant Program for Japanese-language Education Activities which allowed the expansion of our Japanese language education activities to include credit-bearing Japanese modules within the university-wide undergraduate programme. These integrated Japanese language modules at A1, A2 and A2+ proficiency levels, worth 5 ECTs, are offered as part of the Trinity Electives programme.
2017 marks the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Japan and Ireland. A series of events in Ireland and Japan is planned to commemorate this important milestone, including a dynamic programme of activities at Trinity. In addition to a Japanese manga exhibition (March/April 2017) and Japanese language and culture summer school (June 2017), Trinity will host two international Japanese Studies symposia to celebrate this auspicious year.
Student mobility between Japan and Trinity
There are exciting opportunities for Trinity students to spend a year of their undergraduate degree in Japan, including at the University of Tokyo and at Kyoto University. Please see Trinity's partner universities for mobility in the 2016/17 academic year.
