Duration
The course comprises of two lectures per week
over one twelve-week term commencing
Monday, 13 January 2014. There is a one week
break (24-28 February 2014) when no lectures
will take place.
Painting and Sculpture in the
Italian Renaissance
This lecture-only course is devoted to Italian art
and architecture between 1300 and 1600. It
traces the development of painting and
sculpture through an investigation of specific
themes, such as the altarpiece, the emergence
of portraiture and the presentation of myth.
Questions relating to patronage, technique,
genres and styles figure prominently.
