David Mitchell delivers lectures on Japanese ‘Peace Boat’
Peace Boat is a Japan-based NGO that travels the world on educational voyages to promote peace and sustainability. In preparation for the ship’s visit to Belfast, David Mitchell was invited to join the voyage for three days between Porto and Liverpool to give talks on the history of conflict in Ireland and ongoing peacebuilding successes and challenges. David was interviewed on board the ship by UTV news, and the ship’s visit was covered in local newspapers. Etain Tannam features in Irish Times
Etain Tannam’s talk to the Irish Association in Belfast on September 9th was featured in the Irish Times article by Newton Emerson, political commentator, and also a panellist. The Conference, ‘Challenges to North-South Cooperation’ examined successes and challenges in North-South cooperation under the Good Friday Agreement.The series of seminars is funded by the Department of Foreign Affairs and the Shared Island initiative. ABC News Australia interview with Dr. Carlo Aldrovandi on latest crisis at Al-Aqsa Mosque & Temple Mount compound
Dr. Aldrovandi’s ABC News interview focused on Israeli minister Itamar Ben-Gvir’s provocative attempts to change the status quo arrangements at the compound in Jerusalem’s Old City. Dr. Carlo Aldrovandi recently wrote an article for The Conversation about the possibility of increased tensions in Jerusalem and the West Bank during the holy month of Ramadan. The article also discusses the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas and the lack of progress in reaching a negotiated ceasefire.
