Medieval History Research Centre
The Purpose of the Centre
The Medieval History Research Centre promotes research into the history, settlement and archaeology of Ireland, Britain and Europe. It provides a venue and specific occasions for the interaction and exchange of ideas among medievalists based in TCD and Dublin more generally, as well as for visiting scholars from further afield. Its approach to the past is interdisciplinary, furnishing a forum where relevant pieces of research from other disciplines (such as Botany, Genetics and Law) have been aired and discussed from a historical viewpoint. Links are also forged with outside institutions with cognate interests, both in Dublin (such as Dúchas and DIAS) and further afield.
